-Name & Summarize (a few sentences) about the chapters you read.
The Chapters that I read were 16, 17, and 19. Chapter 16 discusses the importance of reading more and more. Its main point is the increase in the individual’s word bank, decoding, fluency, knowledge, and many other important reading skills. Chapter 17 talks about how important it is for readers to feel positive and confident towards their reading, or else they will lack the ambition to read and continue furthering their skills. Chapter 19 talked about the true power that books hold. By having a variety of different books, it allows students to learn and see different things that interest them that they might not have the chance to visit in person.
- How will these impact your teaching?
These chapters will impact my teaching by making sure I make my students aware of the important skills they are developing and strengthening while they read more books and push themselves to grow as stronger readers.
-What strategies did you take away and how will you implement them into your teaching?
A very important strategy is allowing choice in reading for my students. This will hopefully create more connections and confidence in my students reading and help them be more successful.
